Senior Electrical Design Engineer  Electrical Services

Client:  Irish/International Engineering Consultancy & Project management company working on Hi Tech Projects including Pharmaceutical and or Biopharmaceutical and or Semiconductor projects.

Role Locations:  County Tipperary, Ireland (Hybrid) &  South Carolina, U.S.A.

Suitable Applicants will have (as a minimum): 3rd level relevant Engineering degree plus a minimum of 7+ year’s experience working as an Electrical Design Engineer a minimum of 4+ years recent experience working on Pharmaceutical and or Biopharmaceutical and or Semiconductor projects.

Responsible for Electrical Design Engineering works for the project, taking ownership of design work packs and managing from design phase through to construction phase.

Responsibilities will include implementing project policies, systems & procedures.  Coordinating with the Engineering Manager, studying specifications and procedures for engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake electrical systems design, including but not limited to HV, MV and LV power systems, normal/emergency lighting systems, Earthing & Lightning Protection layouts, schematics, calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Lead 30%, 60%, 90% & IFC Electrical Design Review & Coordination.
  • Detailed design coordination with inter disciplines.
  • Provide Field Design Verification during the project cycle.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Act as primary technical point of contact for all project electrical vendors or consultants.
  • Responding to site RFIs, conducting reviews of specialist suppliers or contractor prepared designs, and lead site meetings to resolve construction issues.
  • Ensure best document management practices are applied to all project documentation.
  • Ensuring project compliance with the relevant Electrical Codes & Standards
  • Proficient in LV power system modelling and analysis software such as Amtech (or similar), lighting software (Dialux, Relux, or similar), Lightning Protection (Strike Risk or similar) and generator sizer.
  • Ensure all activities on the electrical network are executed in compliance with all Corporate and Statutory Regulations and Guidelines in relation to EHS and Electrical Regulations.
  • Provide electrical engineering technical support and engage personally where required to successfully enable Local Authorities’ approvals on all projects.
  • Contribute to the sustainable design initiative within the company with close attention to energy management, design for sustainability and implementation of sustainable design technologies.
  • Awareness on sustainable design practices and technologies.
  • Evaluate and provide input on new design concepts which were not a part of the original scope of work.
  • Evaluate and advise to Engineering Manager on electrical related design changes to ensure efficient change management.
  • Forecast, plan and manage Individual & Team workload, Progress against agreed plan and criteria.
  • Managing other professionals on a project basis (engineers, BIM/CAD technicians, and support staff) and ensuring that work produced is to the required quality, produced on time.

  • Excellent written and oral English skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning and coordination, People Management skills.
  • Strong technical, prioritization and management skills.
  • Good communication, influencing and interface skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs.
  • Experience in Engineering Design software programs such as: Revit MEP, Navisworks, BIM 360 or similar.
