Architectural Technologist – Senior Level – (Limerick)

kppm are looking to recruit Architectural Technologist for our client an award-winning international design practice with a team of creative professionals offer forward-thinking architecture, masterplanning, design management, interior design, wayfinding, visualisation and BIM expertise across a diverse array of building typologies.

They are a market leader in the field of transportation design and have an extensive portfolio of work throughout the education, leisure, hospitality, healthcare, retail and workplace sectors.

Candidates must have wide ranging architectural design, coordination and liaison role with team leadership and management responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

Project Input:

·         Support the Project Architect for a particular work package or project.

·         Receive briefings from, and report to the Project Leader or Project Architect, as appropriate, helping to ensure those project deadlines are met.

·         Be aware of any client initiatives/project processes/review & approval procedures and assist in implementing them within the project/ team.

·         Be aware of the key documentation and management tools on the project: the brief/the project process/the programme/the coordinated documentation set/the project constraints.

·         Assist in developing, coordinating and releasing various aspects of the design and key project documentation: GA drawings/details /schedules/specifications.

·         Where necessary, participate in relevant project design meetings/progress meetings/workshops/reviews.

·         Gives technical advice to management and operating departments; may take detailed technical responsibility for product development and provision of specialized architecture systems, facilities and functions;

·         Coordinates work programmes with the Project Architect; directs or advises on the use of equipment and material.

·         Assist on-site if required specific to design management. Roles include but are not limited to: review of shop drawings/ workflow transmittals, site coordination meetings and RFI management.

Design Input:

·         Assist in developing design solutions that are thought through / technically compliant/buildable/consistent with design philosophy / meet the client brief and aspirations / detailed to an appropriate level / well documented.

·         Contribute to the coordination of structure / MEP services / specialist systems / external envelope elements / interior design elements / wayfinding elements / external landscaping, into the overall design.

·         Contribute to the preparation of good quality presentation material.

·         Develop a good knowledge of construction and building legislation / become informed about technical, legislative, and sustainable design developments.

Commercial Awareness:

·         Be alert to commercial risks to the business and liaise with the Project Leader accordingly.

·         Be aware that all change needs to be documented and approved and that any resulting time/cost/quality implications need to be defined and agreed upon before undertaking any additional work.

Quality Control Awareness:

·         Be aware of the Quality Management System. This includes the project Yellow File / the project Quality Plan / effective reviewing of incoming and outgoing documentation / the project CAD plan/use of standardized documentation templates/undertaking monthly project reviews.

Office Support:

·         Providing support and assistance to the Junior and Intermediate technical team.

Education and Experience:

·         Suitable candidates must have a Degree in Architectural Technology with a minimum of 5 years industry experience.

·         Revit skills an advantage

·         Proven extensive technical knowledge and experience

·         Experience of working on healthcare projects

·         Demonstrate a sound knowledge of construction and building legislation

·         Detailed knowledge of BC(A)R process.

·         Experience of Public Works Contract administration

·         Demonstrate an ability to manage projects efficiently and profitably

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Excellent software skills as appropriate to the sector and project

This is a full time staff position and salary is €Negotiable depending on experience.
