Job Description

Senior Building Simulation Engineer (IES) Dublin (initially home working)

The Role

My client is looking  for an experienced Building Simulation Engineer to join our Consultancy team in our Dublin office, working with the country’s top IESVE modellers, in leading IES Company.

You will be working as a senior member of our expanding international consulting team, responsible for meeting clients to establish project requirements and modelling complex projects. You will run simulations of building and mechanical system design alternatives and advise clients on the results of those simulations. You will have the opportunity to work on challenging, high-profile projects and will be given the encouragement and support to develop your career, as part of a unique team of building simulation consultants.

The Candidate

We are looking for an experienced (minimum five years), simulation professional with appropriate and relevant engineering or architectural background, with the following skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
  • Experience of using building simulation software or related software tools (e.g. CAD, energy modelling, loads analysis, daylight modelling, solar modelling, HVAC design tools)
  • Ability to write clear and concise proposals and reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable attending client meetings to plan project scope and track progress
  • Ability to mentor and guide more junior team members
  • Experience of completing meetings with project stakeholders, local councils, and/or An Bord Pleanála would be a distinct advantage.

 

Desirable:

 

  • Experience with the IES Virtual Environment software
  • Experience of planning requirements around daylight/sunlight assessments OR some knowledge of HVAC systems, controls and/or modelling of systems
  • Knowledge of BREEAM, LEED, UK and/or Irish Part L/Section 6, ASHRAE 90.1 analysis and building commissioning.
