Construction Director

Project:  Large Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility

Project Experience Required: Life Science / Pharmaceutical

Location: Denmark / North of Copenhagen

Job Purpose:  This is a key position in the delivery of a large-scale, multi-discipline pharmaceutical project.  The Construction Director is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and reporting against the project construction plan. Responsibilities will include implementing company policies, systems & procedures.

Qualifications and Experience: 3rd level degree in Engineering: MEP Mechanical or Electrical or Process plus 15+ Years experience in Construction Management

Strong Life Science / Pharmaceutical Project Experience.

Experience of leading Sub-contractors

Experience in commissioning/turnaround is an advantage

Excellent written and oral English skills.

Strong organizational, planning and coordination, People Management skills.

Strong technical, prioritization and management skills.

Good communication, influencing and interface skills.

Adaptable with excellent problem-solving skills.

Detail orientated.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leads the construction teams, assembling and controlling the required manpower, equipment, materials, and tools required to complete the project.

Coordinates with the area construction leads in directing and supervising site in construction activities.

Reviews the project Key Performance Indicators to determine accurate status of project, making tactical decisions for allocating resources, and assigning staff requirements, to maintain project on target.

Receives reports from subordinates, Sub-contractors, and work with Project planners for corrective actions if project becomes behind schedule or overspends budget.

Regularly reviewing timings, budget, labour, risk, and project plans to ensure work stays on track.

Review the work progress on daily basis.

Attend coordination and progress meetings; make regular trips to sites during construction including preconstruction walks, in-progress site visits, punch walks, and construction closeout.

Review internal and external reports pertaining to job status.

Inspects work in progress to ensure conformity with specifications and quality requirements and provides technical advice to resolve problems.

Champions staff on the job training with skills training programs, with the aim of increasing worker skills and personnel development.

Ensures all his departments have effective resources and perform with expected efficiency and productivity.
