Resident Engineer

M&E Services (Amsterdam) Data Centre Project

kppm are looking to recruit a R.E, for a large scale Data Centre Project based in Amsterdam this will be working on site for the end user client as a Client Resident Engineer

Suitable candidates must have:  A 3rd level Engineering Degree plus a minimum of 7+ Years Mechanical and Electrical engineering services industry experience with a Main contractor or Consulting Engineers and have a minimum of 4+ years experience working as a Resident Engineer at Construction / Installation through to hand over stage of Mechanical and Electrical Services on large scale industrial or Hi Tech projects, Data Centre Project experience is highly desirable.

suitable candidates will ideally have the following attributes/experience:

  • A focus on quality, reducing the need for reworking and double handling.
  • A good general understanding of the specific construction inspection process.
  • A proven proactive approach to the coordination of benchmarking and first of kind inspection.
  • A general understanding of the obligations of all parties under the contract.
  • The foresight to identify issues and the ability to recommend solutions.
  • Be impartial: offering a fair, considered and independent approach.
  • Have an awareness of local code, acceptable standards and benchmarking
  • Ability to identify where work does not conform to regulation.
  • Ability to record their findings concisely.
  • Ability to offer a professional opinion, alternative approaches and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and components, including their use and limitations.
  • An understanding and knowledge of the practical aspects of health and safety.

 

Duties / Responsibility’s in general:

Site representation:

  • Walk the site daily. Maintain daily activity log.
  • Attend the weekly site walk with Datacentre Operations Transition team.
  • Maintain photographic record of works inspected on Construction SharePoint.
  • Maintain accurate field notes.
  • Prepare a weekly report to summarise investigations.

Benchmark/FOK

  • Participate with contractor in the Development of a schedule of first of kind inspections and sample review.
  • Reviewing and reporting of Benchmarks done by General Contractors RE.
  • Record attendance at benchmark reviews and countersign where appropriate.

Meetings

  • Attend weekly project co-ordination meeting.
  • Attend ad-hoc workshop meetings as required.

Support

  • Provide follow up action to PM.
  • Support the End User Client representative team as required.
  • Attend (Lead where required) Root Cause Analysis meetings
  • Ensure outcomes from Root Cause Analysis process are communicated and adopted

QA/QC

  • Review the GC quality plan and advise the Employers Representative of adequacy for use Undertake daily inspections with the General Contractors RE.
  • Attend defects inspection walks with the General Contractors RE.
  • Attend punch-list and snag walkdowns.
  • Monitor the quality and compliance of materials used on the project.
  • Audit compliance to General Contractor design and specifications.
  • Ensure the General Contractors RE has reviewed and cleared all defects before PC.
  • Audit conformance to employers requirements.
  • Where qualitative issues arise, coordinate and manage through to completion a Root Cause Analysis report.
  • Monitor the quality and compliance of materials used on the project.
  • Ensure record documentation is being progressed and completed at the end of the project

Once appointed the Resident Engineer will address the following areas:

Compliance: building and works need to be inspected for conformance to the employers requirements, the design documentation and to ensure conformance to local code and regulations and laws.

Quality of work: needs to be monitored and inspected at regular intervals, addressing defective work as it is identified. Materials should be inspected to ensure that they are correct and of an appropriate quality to fit their purpose.

Recommendations: Report to the client throughout the construction process about materials, the quality of work and the like.

Contract Duration:  Start on site 1st July 2019 /Completion 30th September 2020.

Salary/Package:  Negotiable Depending on experience
