Engineering Design Manager – (Dublin)

Location: Dublin/Hybrid – Remote working options

Kppm are looking to recruit an Engineering Design Manager for our client who are a leading multi award winning Mechanical & Electrical Consulting Engineers who work on: high-tech, commercial, healthcare, data centres, and education projects.  

You will have a fully understanding of hyperscale data centre design will enable innovative and novel design solutions to blue-chip big tech clients. You will be taking technical and managerial responsibility of the design team for multiple projects in EMEA. You will report to the project director.

Responsibilities:

·         Own leadership of the Design and Document Management functions

·         Publish a Design Management Plan (part of the Project Execution Plan) and establish project-specific procedures and implement them

·         Provide interface with client, as appropriate, where defined in the project structure

·         Promote safety, keeping it top-of-mind for all design team members

·         Lead the design team to ensure that the overall project requirements are satisfied

·         Work with discipline leads defining agreed scope of services for all design disciplines and/or design sub-contractors/suppliers

·         Ensure adherence to the design brief/scope of service and develop (as required) a comprehensive scope of service for the next stage of the project

·         Manage all design reviews and co-ordination meetings; ensuring a fully coordinated design strategy is in place and work closely with discipline lead designers to deliver

·         Monitor to ensure design is produced to integrate with the Project Execution Plan

·         Manage change control (in conjunction with internal team)

·         Deliver to cost in terms of design fee and project prime cost

·         Monitor that the design team are sticking to budget, liaising with senior management

·         Keep the design in line with procurement and construction requirements

·         Follow defined specifications as detailed in the work package control document / sub-contract documents to ensure that the design fully accords

·         Collaborate with senior management to ensure resource management is efficiently applied

Education & Experience:

·         Suitable candidates must have 7+ years’ experience in a project managemnt role within the building services.

·         Can undertake full design and management duties from RIBA stage 0 – to 6 for all disciplines including civil, structural, and architectural services along with other specialised services required to meet the clients strategy, all in addition to our core MEP services

·         Confident in delivering complex and multi-disciplined projects

·         Commercially aware, managing projects to budget, including man-hours and commercial targets

·         Forward planner identifying and remedying project challenges effectively

·         Ability to lead, coordinate and supervise both internal and external teams

·         Thorough knowledge of UK building regulations and construction technology

·         Possess exceptional technical and construction detailing ability

·         Working knowledge of Revit and other relevant software (beneficial but is not essential)

·         Work experience in the Data Centre industry sector is an advantage
