Civil Engineer  to work on a large Pharmaceutical Plant Project (Greenfield) – Dublin

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced civil engineer to work with our client on a new greenfield pharmaceutical project in Dublin.

You will be experienced in early site establishment and enabling works. The role requires someone who understands underground surveys and installations.

You will be responsible for ensuring the early stages of the project and underground infrastructure adhere to schedule and comply with the project specifications and local regulations.

Programme Requirements, Standards & Performance

  • Ensure designs and contract documents are completed in accordance with timelines, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Assess project requirements relating to civil engineering elements across the project.
  • Ensure Employer Requirements meet client needs and performance specifications.
  • Responsible for ensuring contractor compliance with the approved civil designs during the construction phases.

Technical Guidance

  • Oversee early-stage civil installations and enabling works on the project.
  • Provide input into Value Engineering (VE) and cost reduction exercises.
  • Implement Robust Quality Management Systems relating to the installations
  • Ensure works are designed and phased in a manner which achieves the most efficient installation sequence.
  • Review of external design packages for appropriateness and completeness.
  • Perform the technical compliance reviews of civil installations, making recommendations based on the review of drawings / specifications / design information /installations as to how best to resolve issues and progress the project.

Project coordination

  • Coordinate with the wider project teams for works in progress including agreeing specifications and standards.
  • Be proactive in co-ordinating project installation sequence between contractors, design team and internal project stakeholders.
  • Ensure clear coordination with other aspects of the projects (e.g., building contractor, electrical, mechanical) to ensure interfaces are functional.
  • Accountability for delivery of the package schedule to agreed master programme milestones.
  • Collaborate with the design partner to resolve design-related issues and ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of design reviews, approvals, and any modifications made during the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare regular reports for project stakeholders, providing updates on construction progress, challenges, and solutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 5-10 years’ experience on large greenfield >500m construction projects
  • The ideal candidate would have experience on greenfield pharma construction projects.
  • In-depth understanding of the design and delivery requirements of technically complex projects in the architectural / engineering / construction sectors.

Long term contract,  Hourly Rate: €Negotiable.
