Job Description

Kppm have a fantastic opportunity for a Civil / Urban Design Engineer for the role of Active Travel Design Engineer.  To work in an existing team in Dublin City working on Cycle Lane projects from Concept Stage through to Design stage, Planning Stage, Preliminary Design Stage, Planning Process, Reporting and some involvement in detailed design and Design at Construction through to handover stages also design at construction stage.

This is a fantastic opportunity to see a project from concept design through to Finnish with a very experienced team of engineers and project Managers.

Suitable candidates will have:  A relevant 3rd level Engineering degree: Civil Engineering / Urban Engineering / Transport Engineering  plus a minimum of 4+ years experience working on Active Travel / Cycle Lane Projects with strong Design, Report Writing and Communication Skills.

  • Supporting Senior Staff, Providing technical support for a wide range of project types and consultancy commissions.
  • Attend Public Consultation Events.
  • Review work prepared by others on the technical team.
  • Overseeing works by Sub-Consultants and liaising with other specialists.
  • Contributing on the Production of technical reports and designs in line with current design standards and policies.
  • Preparing designs on Active Travel Schemes, Cycling Infrastructure,  Junction Design and Pedestrian Facilities.
  • Undertaking site visits to capture required information and collect on street asset data.
  • Assisting in the collection and analysis of survey data such as pedestrians, cycling, public transport and traffic surveys such as volume, speed, accidents, turning counts, loading activity, desire lines, bus patronage etc.
  • Ensuring all project files are up to date and comply with the QA system and assist in developing improved procedures.
    Liaising with other staff on wider projects, assisting other disciplines on projects to expand skill set and knowledge.

Software experience required: AutoCAD, MS Office suite

Location: Dublin City Centre / Hybrid  3 Days based at the office

The role can be offered on a Permanent Staff (Salary) or Long Term Contract FOR Service (Hourly Rate) basis and Salary or Hourly rate:  Currently Negotiable depending on experience.
