Project:                      Large Scale Pharmaceutical Project

Location:                  West Dublin

Reporting to:           The Construction Manager

Qualifications Required:

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Strong experience required in the role of CSA Construction Lead on Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical Construction Projects.
  • Multi-disciplinary knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • People management skills.

Brief Description of the Job and Summary of Responsibilities:  The CSA Construction Lead is assigned to the project as a senior member of the Construction Team with responsibility for the proper and timely construction of the CSA Scope in accordance with Safety and Quality standards, the detailed design, the control estimate, contract, SOP’s, WI’s, standards.

Pre-Construction duties/ responsibilities will involve:

  • Detailed review and liaison with design and client workgroup leads, model reviews. Prepare and lead constructability reviews across every facet of the build.
  • Prepare detailed SOWs for trade contract procurement.
  • Assist in preparation of detailed BOQs.
  • Review returned CSA bids and prepare TBA.
  • Trade and industry knowledge reviews, keeping abreast of developments in the construction industry.
  • Development of detailed execution strategies.
  • Input into CHSP, QA/TO and all other General Construction Requirement documentation.
  • Assist in schedule development, schedule reviews and lead IAPs .

The CSA Construction Lead will also provide input for the development of the CSA  construction department which will include improving execution procedures, liaising with the CSA Design department leads, and managing and developing CSA  construction resources across the project.

Main Duties/Responsibilities in addition to above

  • Ensure that the construction phase of the project is adequately provided with suitably capable, qualified, and experienced personnel, together with all the necessary plant, tools, temporary facilities, and other resources.
  • Subcontract management including Safety , Schedule, Cost and Quality  shall be your main
  • Develop best in class site execution SOPs as guidance to the Field Supervisors.
  • Complies with construction methods, procedures, and practices in all respects, particularly those relating to safety, quality assurance, personnel and industrial relations; where these are found to be inadequate immediately report the deficiencies and suggests solutions.
  • Ensure that the applicable statutory and other legal requirements are properly observed.
  • Understand the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and Regulations as they affect the responsibilities of employees.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the construction industry and assist in ensuring that the capability continues to develop and excel.
  • Ensure that the project is constructed to the drawings, specifications, applicable standards, good construction practices, to schedule and in accordance with the cost budget.
  • Direct and control the activities of the assigned staff and their functions.
  • Assessment and appraisal of the staff and report the results.
  • Determine the needs for supervisor training for proper execution of the project under construction and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Ensure team are utilising the best technology available and ensuring innovative ideas are encouraged.
  • Records recorded and shared.
  • Adhere to policies for the employment of labour and ensure that all matters concerning labour relations are dealt with in accordance with the labour agreements.

Supervision: Supervise and manage all Site CSA Staff including construction superintendents, trade supervisors and sub-contractors.
