Job Description

Mechanical / Electrical: Resident Engineer (Cork/Munster Region) Permanent Full-time role for a Mechanical and Electrical Resident Engineer who will be initially based on a site in Cork for approx. one and a half years.

Roles & Responsibilities  As the Mechanical / Electrical Resident Engineer you will be the key person between design and construction team reviewing and answering basic RFIs, if change of material, technical design change needed it will be returned to design team.

Duties will include:

  • Review drawings and coordinate if required.
  • Benchmarking first of a kind installation of equipment.
  • Attend weekly site meetings with main contractor and M&E contactors.
  • Cross checked technical submittals versus what is installed on site.
  • Continuous QA/QC snagging and issuing weekly snag lists for duration of project.
  • BCAR inspections as per inspection plan monitoring compliance to TGD’s with report issued bi-weekly to design, construction and assigned certifier teams.
  • Check all works completed on site and advise contractors when works are being completed incorrectly or unacceptable.
  • Ensure that Mechanical and Electrical works are carried out to the client’s standards, national standards, specifications, correct materials, workmanship, and schedules.
  • Become familiar with all the relevant drawings and written instructions, reviewing them, and using them as a reference when inspecting works.
  • Write weekly report which will be issued to the client and the project manager which will summarise site progress.
  • Identify any deviations from construction documentation, standards and CIBSE Engineering Guides.
  • Identify technical problems on site and make recommendation for corrective action.
  • During the commissioning period, assist the Commissioning Agents, attend commissioning meetings, and carry out witness commissioning tests on behalf of the Client and the BCAR process.
  • Allow for a 4-week period following practical completion to review O&M documentation and close out remaining snags.

General Requirements:  A professional qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (not mandatory) or a time served engineer plus a minimum of 2+ Years’ experience in the role of: Mechanical / Electrical Resident Engineer

  • Excellent knowledge of building regulations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Confident, creative, and energetic approach to addressing all quality-related issues.
  • Ability to produce quality written reports.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.

 Salary negotiable depending on qualifications and number of years recent relevant experience.
